Tamil Nadu invites Expression of Interest(EOI) for setting up of a 500 MW Solar Park

Tamil Nadu Energy Development Agency(TEDA) has invited EOI for setting up a 500 MW Solar Park in Tamil Nadu. It may be recalled that Solar Parks are going to play a very crucial role in India achieving its target of 100 GW of Solar Installed capacity by 2022. Following the successful auction(successful from Government perspective) of 750 MW in Rewa Solar Park in Madhya Pradesh(first year tariff of Rs. 2.97/kWh), the MNRE increased the capacity target in Solar Parks from 20 GW to 40 GW by 2022. Of the initial target of 20 GW, Tamil Nadu’s share is 500 MW(The list of the 34 Solar Parks approved so far is available here).
The deadline for submission of application is 5th May 2017.
Some of the evaluation criteria are as follows.

  • Proof of ownership or of minimum of 10% of the land required for the solar park or undertaking/ authorization from the land owner for transfer of land in the event of selection as Solar Park Project Developer (SPPD) by TEDA.
  • Experience in developing a solar park (or) executing contracts of Supply, Installation and commissioning of Grid connected Solar PV power plants with a cumulative capacity of not less than 50 MW which should be in successful operation for at least six months as on the date of application (or) executing any infrastructure project or industrial park either as a developer or as EPC contractor for a value of not less than 100 Crore
  • The applicant or the consortium should have a combined net worth of not less than 100 Crore or average annual turnover of Rs.100 Crore in the preceding 3 consecutive financial years.
