Diversification through Joint Ventures

Client
One of the leading Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturers.
Context
The client was in discussions with a German solar inverter technology vendor for a potential Joint Venture(JV) in the Indian market. The scope of the work was to assess the strategic fit for both the companies in the JV.
Action

  • Conducted a detailed Indian solar market potential analysis
  • Did a comparative analysis of the various inverter suppliers operating in India
  • Evaluation of inverter technology trends with specific focus on inverter operation under Indian conditions (grid, climate, environment etc.)
  • Formulation of business model, marketing strategy and product positioning strategy
  • Evaluated the different partnership options and made the recommendations based on the product-market fit

Result
The JV between the client and the German firm was consummated.
