A London Stock Exchange(LSE) listed natural resources firm.
Context
The client was keen on diversifying into Solar PV manufacturing either through organic growth or through acquisition. The scope of the assignment was not restricted to any particular PV technology.
Action

  • Conducted a global solar market potential analysis for the next 10 years.
  • Assessed the demand and supply dynamics across the entire crystalline silicon value chain(Polysilicon, Wafers, Cells and Modules)
  • Did a comparative analysis of the different thin film technologies(a-Si, CdTe and CIGS) and the capabilities of the solar PV manufacturing firms in each of the technology group.
  • Create a financial model to assess the PV manufacturing viability for each part of the value chain and for each Thin Film Technology under different market scenarios
  •  Analysed the risk factors for each technology and each part of the c-Si value chain and developed risk mitigation strategies

Result
The client took an informed decision about diversifying into the solar PV manufacturing sector.
