2012 was year in which the Indian solar sector lost some of its momentum. True – almost 1 GW of solar power generation capacity was added in 2012. But almost all of this capacity was allocated in 2011 and the projects were commissioned in 2012. Most of these projects were allotted under the JNNSM Phase 1 Batch 1 and under the Gujarat state policy.
In an article that appeared in the industry magazine “Electricals Today”, Madhavan Nampoothiri, Director of RESolve, writes about the status of the solar sector till 2012 and how 2013 is shaping up. The article covers the status of JNNSM Phase 2, state policies(Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Punjab, etc) , REC/RPO mechanism and issues related to Domestic Content Requirement.
