MNRE releases updated list of off-grid Solar PV Channel partners

The number of channel partners has increased to 190 System Integrators(SIs) as of 14.02.2013, compared to 171 SIs on 01.01.2013. The number of RESCOs remain the same, at 5. The increase in number of companies getting accredited could partially be attributed to the fact that many government tenders mandate that the bidders should be MNRE channel partners. This was the case in the recent tenders by Karnataka and Kerala for their respective rooftop PV programmes, where only MNRE channel partners could participate.
In our last article(click here) on this subject, we had looked at the statistics of the ratings of these channel partners. This time, we did an analysis of the concentration of the channel partners. Not surprisingly, NCR region(Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida and Ghaziabad) had the highest number of channel partners(37). Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat, AP and West Bengal were the next. The complete details are given below.
Channel partner locations(Feb 2013)
The complete list of channel partners is given below.

It is understood that MNRE is planning to tighten the qualifying criteria for getting accredited as a channel partner. Currently, an applicant should get at least a 3B rating to be accredited. It is likely that it will be changed to at least 2B. More details are awaited. (For details of the rating process, you can refer to our earlier blog).
