The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has released the year-wise, state-wise target for rooftop Solar. It may be recalled that the Modi government had raised the solar targets to 100 GW by 2022, and rooftop solar will contribute 40 GW to the revised target.
Maharashtra has the highest target(4,700 MW), followed by Uttar Pradesh(4,300 MW) and Tamil Nadu(3,500 MW).
The year-wise targets are given below.

Thanking you for providing latest information. It is interesting to note that Government is stick to a total target of 100 GW and out which 40 GW has been allocated for rooftop solar. The allocation of rooftop solar targets to states is a positive sign for development of solar industry in India.
These allocation looks good on paper but considering the state of rooftop installation environment in India, its a little difficult to see this happening. Couple of points which needs to be fixed before we can see up uptake in the rooftop segment are
Net-Metering policy
Cheaper sources of finance
Local installer base
