The financial bids for project allocation under the Andhra Pradesh Solar Policy were opened yesterday. It may be recalled that there was an over subscription of the bids. The Hindu Business Line has reported that the lowest bid(Rs. 6.52/unit) was by Essel Mining and Industries Ltd., which is part of the Aditya Birla Group.According to our sources, Essel Mining and Industries was also the lowest bidder in Rajasthan at Rs. 6.45/kWh. Update 1 : Energy Alternatives India(EAI) reports that the lowest bid is Rs. 6.49/kWh by Sunborne Energy. Click here for more.

The twist in the tale is that 3 companies – ACME Tele Power, Tesla Projects and NCS Sugars,submitted hard copy of bids(instead of online submission), with an order of AP High court. These 3 companies combined put in 37 bids and were the lowest bids for 27 locations.
