The world’s largest annual conference and exhibition for the solar industry – Intersolar Europe – will take place in Munich, Germany next week(17-21, June 2013). In 2012, almost 2000 exhibitors and about 66,000 visitors attended Intersolar Europe exhibition and more than 400 speakers and around 2,000 attendees took part in the conference. This year, despite the declining growth in the solar sector and the bankruptcy of several solar firms in Europe, the number of exhibitors and visitors attending the event is expected to be strong.
I will be attending the event(both the conference and exhibition) for the third year in a row and I am quite eager to understand the growth trajectory of the global solar sector. 2011 was the best year for solar, with record capacity installed due to the attractive Feed-in-Tariffs. The year was followed by the return to normalcy in 2012, when the solar installations started to stabilize in Germany. This year, I could see three major focus areas – trade disputes, energy storage and distributed solar power generation. Intersolar Europe has formed an alliance on energy storage and has started a new blog specific to solar energy storage(click here).
If you are attending the event, please send me a note at madhavan@re-solve.in and we can schedule a meeting at the event.
I will share my views and learnings from Intersolar in this space. Please stay tuned!!
